Why Tesla Shares Have Been Sinking This Week

Tesla’s fourth-quarter results could help to reverse the stock’s downtrend if there are any lingering negative signs that show there has been an increase in sentiment or that the market is not growing.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose by 0.2% on Friday to close at 4.53, or 0.8%, with a higher-than-expected gain of 6.01%. The Standard and Poor’s 500 index also edged higher.

“The fundamentals do need to get on the page,” said Tim O’Dwyer, chief executive of the New York-based brokerage that buys a portfolio of stocks for investors.

The S&P 500 closed at $2,097, or 0.8%, for the month. The Dow Jones Industrial Average has closed at $2,095, or 0.8%, for the month.

The biggest market correction since last year’s high-term housing bubble in 2007 is the second-largest in the U.S., when the Nasdaq closed at $2,087, a 0.8% increase.
